Instead of going to the school dance, a group of teenagers decide to go to the abandoned house of a psychotic killer known as “The Caretaker.” The night of fun, booze, girls, and sex that they originally had planned, soon turns into a night of horrific terror, as the caretaker returns, hunting the students one-by-one.
I did not have high hopes for this film. The only reason I watched it, was because Jennifer Tilly was in it, and I adore her. She plays a slutty, attractive, school teacher with a passion for sleeping with students. Her role was pure camp and was the only really-good thing this film had.
Basically a bunch of students rent a limo and, instead of going to the school Halloween dance, they decide to go the abandoned house of the caretaker. They set around, play scary music, and tell the story of “The Caretaker” and how he was so in love with his wife, that it drove him to madness, causing him to kill her. Soon the caretaker shows up, hunting the student with an altered ‘fruit picker,” slicing anyone up that crosses his path.
The films revelation was as easy to figure out as a 2nd grade crossword puzzle. Early on in the film, I reached the conclusion on the caretakers true identity. It was as obvious as can be, and really lacked the finesse and creativity to keep the viewer guessing.
All in all, this film has a generic plot, one that has been done time and time again, only with a little alteration. Jennifer Tilly was the only thing that I really liked about this film. However, there are worse horror films out there, and as generic as this film was, it wasn’t the worst I’ve seen.
RATING 2.5 out of 5 stars!
