This 1988 splatter-fest, directed by Kevin S. Tenney (Witchboard), stars scream queen Linnea Quigley (Return Of The Living Dead), Amelia Kinkade (Author Of: “Straight From The Horses Mouth”), and William Gallo (Crash - “2004”). It follows a group of kids that are throwing a Halloween party at the infamous “Hull House,” a deserted funeral home with a dark past, and with something even darker lurking in the basement! One by one the guests become possessed by the evil entity, becoming demonic slaves forced to do its bidding.
This film is one of my all-time favorites. How could it not be, It has eye gouging, tongue severing, lipstick in tit, burning flesh tidbits of gore, and what could be better than that?! The special effects in this film were good even for their time.I mean, if you look closely at the eye gouging scene, you will notice that it is way more than a latex head with gougable eyes, it has actual muscle movement, and that only adds to the realistic effect trying to be presented. The “lipstick tube in tit scene” with Linnea Quigley is easily one of the most memorable horror scenes ever! When I first saw that scene, I kept thinking, “Oh no, she’s not gonna….OH she did!” I was instantly hooked after that!
Eighties films like this make it very evident that people will never learn that venturing into morbid places with dark histories will lead to nothing but catastrophe. No matter what year or decade there will always be those movies about groups of people that let their curiosity lead them into the forbidden, and I couldn’t be more thankful, because I really enjoy watching them! If, by some chance, you haven’t seen this film, I strongly recommend it!
Movie Rating: 4 out of 5 stars!
